Deep in the heart of Texas, Brady sits on the Edwards Plateau in McCulloch County. With the meandering Colorado River to the north and placid Brady Lake to the west, the area is home to a world of water activities that includes swimming, camping, water skiing and fishing. Based largely on agriculture, the area also has an important industrial component that makes Brady a major trade center to numerous surrounding rural communities. Wholesale and retail trade are significant contributors to the economy.

In 2002, the Concho Valley Council of Governments started thinking about bringing digital mapping to the PSAPs in their area. With multiple answering points under her jurisdiction, Hilda Arredondo-Garibay, Emergency Services Director, knew that the upgrade would be a major undertaking.

Additionally, she knew that the State of Texas would start moving towards Phase II, a huge project in itself. With these thoughts in mind, Ms. Arredondo-Garibay decided to start looking for a mapping software manufacturer.

"We looked at several companies," says Ms. Arredondo-Garibay. "We had quite a clear idea of all the functionality we needed. For our dispatchers, we needed something very user-friendly. Just as importantly, we needed something that would fit in our budget." Concho Valley
