Panama City is located on the panhandle of northwest Florida on beautiful St. Andrews Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. Leading up to Y2K, the Panama City Police Department started thinking of upgrading their dispatch. Their list of criteria was extensive but two things were considered more important than most. They wanted applications that were extremely easy to use and that integrated seamlessly.

"The system is so easy to use," says Mary Jo Rizzuto, Communications Manager for the Panama City Police Department. "And it has really grown with us as our needs have developed. Just in the last year, our call volume is up more than 25% and the system just keeps on going."

But it's one call in particular that Ms. Rizzuto remember most clearly. "Several years ago, we received a call with only brief silence on the line before the calling party hung up. When we contacted the residence, we reached a lady that didn't know that her husband, who was downstairs at the time, had had a heart attack and called 9-1-1 himself. Power 911 saved a life that day."
