Cherokee County 911 is a progressive emergency center located in North Carolina. They serve a variety of agencies including EMS, multiple Rescue Squads, multiple Fire Departments, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department as well as the Andrews Police Department. On an annual basis they handle between twenty-five to thirty thousand calls.

The center currently has three position of Positron Power CAD, and three positions of Power MAP. A unique feature is that all of the Power MAP positions have all been integrated with Pictometry's imagery solution.

This integration with Pictometry enables 9-1-1 dispatchers to have a single, integrated software system that can seamlessly utilize both Positron and Pictometry software. The end result allows dispatchers using Positron's Power MAP to not only bring up a detailed map of an inbound caller's location, but also visually inspect, through Pictometry's 3D-like high-resolution aerial images, the actual incident area as if they were right there at the scene.

According to Ben Adams, the center's 911 Communications Director, "the integration enables 9-1-1 dispatchers and first responders to have an incredible wealth of visual information that can help save time on each and every call".

Ben Adams, has been a Positron CAD and MAP customer since 2003. In 2005 Ben upgraded his statistical reporting system to include Positron's Power MIS reporting product.

Within the October 2006 time frame he shall also be replacing legacy call taking equipment as well as older radio consoles with the latest Power 911 and Positron VIPER call taking solution combined with Positron Power RADIO console products.

When Cherokee County 911 received a direct lightening strike in May 2006, causing extensive equipment damage, Ben reached out to Positron for rapid service and parts replacement.

The voltage surge caused specific damage to newly installed Positron Power RADIO line cards, which were being prepared to takeover communications with the center's radio equipment. Through direct teamwork between the County and the Positron team, replacement cards were rapidly provided.
