Telecommunicator Award of Merit

In an emergency, seconds count. We rely on public safety telecommunicators to answer calls for help, and provide emergency services quickly through specialized equipment. These highly trained and skilled men and women are a vital link to those in need.

In the spirit of recognizing the importance of the telecommunicator role in Public Safety, Positron Public Safety Systems is pleased to announce the Positron Telecommunicator Award of Merit.

This award acknowledges the special contributions of telecommunicators, whose dedication and daily performance of their duties is an inspiration to all professionals in the field of emergency communications.

Eligibility Requirements

• Nominations must be based on a single incident that resulted in exemplary handling of a specific 9-1-1 call for emergency assistance.
• Nominators and nominees must be employees of a Public Safety agency.
• Nominators permit Positron Public Safety Systems to use the information for the purposes of award and publication.

Nominations

Positron is seeking nominations from Public Safety personnel for telecommunicators that have demonstrated skills and dedication above and beyond the call of duty in dealing with the public during an emergency response. Nominations can be submitted via the internet at www.positron911.com/tam.

Nominations for the inaugural Telecommunicator Award of Merit must be submitted no later than June 5, 2003.

Selecting a Winner

Positron's Awards Committee will select and recognize telecommunicators, as this program is defined, on a regular basis and communicate the results to the recipient and others.

Recipients of the Positron Telecommunicator Award of Merit will receive:

• A personalized award to the winner
• An award plaque for their center
• If desired, a gift of appreciation
• A donation to the charity of their choice
