New Bexar County Public Safety Communications Center,
Texas goes live with Positron ISDN
Sacramento, California, January 16, 2004
In the early morning hours of January 11, 2004, the new Bexar County Public Safety Communications Center went into service following an uneventful cutover. Onsite personnel commented shortly after the cut-to-operation that it was easy to forget that the 9-1-1 calls being processed by the new center were being delivered via ISDN.
The culmination of over two years of planning by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office and the Bexar Metro 9-1-1 Network District, the new communication center provides modern capabilities to meet the growing needs of the citizens of Bexar County. With SBC Communications, Positron helped design, install and test a complete call handling solution that met the exacting demands of Bexar County. The solution employs 9-1-1 call delivery to the PSAP via ISDN trunks, which terminate to Positron's ISDN-enabled Life Line 100 controller. All phone communications are performed with Power 911's First-Party CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) with an Avaya Definity/G3 PBX.
