Positron Gives the Maricopa Region 911 Office, Arizona the
Power to Respond™
Denver, CO, June 27, 2005
Positron Public Safety Systems, the leader in
fully integrated, end-to-end public safety solutions for call handling and dispatching,
announced today that it will supply the Maricopa Region 911 Office with its Power 911
Intelligent Workstations (IWS) throughout its 26 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
“We were looking for a solution that would do exactly what we expected. We found that
solution with Positron,” says Susan MacFarlane, Administrator of the Maricopa Region 911
Office. “From a technical standpoint, the full integration between all the elements of the
system and its ease of use were what attracted us to Positron.”
This installation comes right on the heels of Positron’s successful implementation of a
centralized mapping solution for the Maricopa Region, incorporating its Power MAP software
with its centralized discrepancy tracking and centralized GIS remote update functionality.
At the same time, Positron installed its Sentry system, a proactive real-time PSAP equipment
monitoring and maintenance system. Leveraging advanced technology, Sentry provides on-site
and off-premise support personnel with both fault notification and prediction while suggesting
corrective actions to preserve system performance. This was done to meet the emergency
response needs of the area, which incorporates 26 municipalities and over 9,200 square miles
of territory.
Susan MacFarlane says, “We had great experience with Positron, their people, and their
equipment in the past, and we decided that their reliable CPE and rich feature set was the best
choice for us to replace our existing equipment. Our dispatchers love the Power MAP
software, so the choice of adding the proven integrated Power 911 call-handling equipment
was a natural one.” Ms MacFarlane goes on to say that the reduced clutter on the desktop that
results from a fully integrated solution was extremely attractive to the Maricopa Region.
“Truly, we knew from past experience that Positron was not going to let us down. We would
get exactly what we needed to run an efficient public safety operation,” she says.
"We are delighted to be the Maricopa Region 911 Office’s sole partner in this endeavor," said
Paul G. Guest, Director of Marketing for Positron. "We look forward to furthering our
relationship with Maricopa into the future."
