Sagamore Hills is located within Summit County in the state of Ohio, and within close proximity to a National Park. The PSAP in Sagamore Hills dispatches for several communities in the area, and also receives calls from hikers and picnickers using the National Park's many trails. Because of the increase in cellular call traffic, the agency made the decision to upgrade their customer premise equipment to a Phase II compatible solution. They chose Positron's Life Line 100 ANI/ALI controller with Power 911 IWS and Power MAP.

Sgt. Krettler at Sagamore Hills was meticulous in his research, investigating several solutions over a period of 3 years. The decision was made to select Positron because of its ease-of-use and expandability. "We dispatch for a variety of communities in the area, and we had to be able to expand to serve even more in the future," explains Sgt. Krettler. "The Positron system was the solution."

The PSAP today supports 3 E9-1-1 trunks and 3 call-handling positions, equipped with Power 911, Positron's computer-based call-handling application. It is an integrated Intelligent Workstation that provides call takers with on-screen control of both landline and wireless calls in a wide variety of telephony environments. Through an intelligent approach to information display and management, Power 911 enhances emergency call handling efficiency and consistency.

When discussing Positron's installation and support, the Sergeant said, "It couldn't have gone smoother. The Positron people came in and had us up and running in no time. Their response was phenomenal." He goes on to say that even though the call-handlers had been used to using a traditional phone set to respond to incoming emergency callers, they took to using the Power 911 Intelligent Workstations quickly and easily.

In order to support the location of the increasing number of wireless calls the PSAP receives, Sagamore Hills invested in Positron's Power MAP, a dedicated public safety map viewer providing automatic display and management of calls, incidents, responses and resources. Power MAP's blend of sophisticated engineering and simplified operation allows agency personnel to locate callers and direct emergency responses quickly and accurately. Power MAP provides enhanced support of Wireless E911 calls and can configure each wireless provider's class of service to automatically search different data sources and display information that the operator needs - such as when to perform a repeat ALI.

"The mapping is a real boon to us. We receive a lot of calls from the National Park, and by using Power MAP we can locate those individuals and guide our response teams directly to them," says the Sergeant. "The Positron system fits our needs exactly."
